Simplify the preparation and shorten the bake time by using no-boil lasagna noodles.
2 jars (24 oz.) Classico® Family Favorites Traditional Pasta Sauce
1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
1 package (1 lb.) ground beef
2 tbsp water
3/4 cup Italian bread crumbs
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 egg, lightly beaten
salt and pepper, a pinch each
6 sub rolls
12 slices provolone or mozzarella cheese
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Mix by hand the ground beef, water, bread crumbs, garlic, onion, egg and salt & pepper. Shape into 18 meatballs and place on a baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until cooked through.
Meanwhile, heat the sauce over medium heat on the stovetop. Add the meatballs and cook until heated through, stirring occasionally.
Spoon 3 meatballs and sauce onto each roll and top with 2 cheese slices. Bake an additional 2-3 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
